My heartfelt condolences to the Mader family. I met Scott as an OHSU internal medicine resident over a decade ago. He has been a wonderful role model and mentor throughout my training and career in geriatrics. I will always remember his extraordinary optimism and zest for life - during our last conversation he told me, "I'm just a happy person; I wake up every day feeling happy," which was so refreshing to hear. I also admired his devotion to his family and how he said that he never had to miss his children's sports or school activities because of work or other commitments. He was truly one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed. May you be comforted by the knowledge that he influenced us in such a positive way. I will always think of him with a grateful heart.
