Great Doctor and Friend

I am physician who trained with Scott during residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY. On our first meeting we became fast friends. Pofessionally Scott was favorite with all of the other resident physicians in training. How could you NOT love working with a colleague who was brilliant, hard working, dependable and more fun "than a barrel of monkeys". We easterners loved to hear the stories about 'Mader Farms" amd his "Grandma". From the very beginning of training Scott had decided to devote his career to helping older people in his role as a Geriatrician. This was not a common vocation in those days and I believe that Scott was one of the pioneers in this now popular field. I can speak for many of my colleagues here in Rochester to say that we are deeply saddened by his premature death. We arer reminded of the fragility of life and proud of our dedicated colleaugues in Oregon who helped this wonderful man and his family through his terrible undeserved illness. Scott was a wonderful, compassionate, thoughtful father, husband , physician, and friend. Our prayers are with you. Moe and Janet Vaughan Pittsford, NY
